sunday. good morning, everyone, getting you out the door this morning we have fog in santa rosa and everyone else is pretty much unlimited visibility but it is the temperature again that has me concerned, 28 degrees in santa rosa. we could have black ice like yesterday in the north bay valley. still in the 30's around concord and freezing in livermore and fair field. antioch is 39 and novato is 43 and mid-to-upper 30's through the bay shore and the coast and 42 in oakland and 49 in san francisco. headed through today it is still going to be cold again this morning as we just saw and that will hold through 7:00 and the mid-to-upper 50's for lunch time temperatures and we will be in the low 60's with hazy sunshine in another "spare the air" day. toward 7:00, quiet evening with mid-to-upper 40's. saturday, sunday, mid-and possibly a few upper 60's and a few high clouds for monday and low-to-mid 60's. temperatures will still be rather chilly overnight this weekend. and now the traffic update. >> good morning, everyone. happy friday. getting up and out early it is light traffic wise

of the atmosphere. in the afternoon, low-to-mid 50's, and 57 in oakland and 58 in santa rosa and low 60's for everyone open thursday -- on thursday and friday. >> the capitol corridor train shows major delay system-wide because of this ongoing investigation of the fire in crockett. that is not blocking the tracks but early fire crews were blocking the tracks. that is what is causing that. bart and muni and everyone else and caltrain is on schedule. the drive times are slow from antioch and the freeway to the macarthur maze and 680 on the way to 101 is still at 3 minutes, and a look at the bay bridge toll plaza, a bit of a backup past the caltran parking lot. >> apple shares start at the lowest level if a year closing down more than $18 yesterday at $501. that is down 4 percent. remember, it was at $700 a few months ago. the decline came the same day news surfaced that demand for iphone five is slow down and the cupertino company is cutting down for orders for parts. coming up live at 6:45 we will go to the new york stock exchange and jane king to see how the shares are doing this morning.

temperatures are in and we are 27 now in santa rosa so black ice is a possibility. there is fog and visibility down to half a mile. 30 in fair feed and concord. those are the other freezing spots. 41 in antioch and 48 in san francisco and 43 in novato. we have temperatures in the upper 30's and upper 40's from monterey bay at 47. and gilroy flirting with frost at 33. more warming in the afternoon hours. we also still have poor air quality. rough surf of the enjoy the 60's and sunshine at the beaches. the next rain may not be until next month. all models are very dry through the beginning of february. today is the 18th. so that is a couple of weeks. napa, four degrees warmer and 63 and redwood city is 64 and san jose is 5 and extra were is 63. livermore, 63. oakland, 65, seven degrees warmer-than-average. and 65 in santa rosa and san jose the warmest weather, fremont, the warmest at 66 and fairfield is coolest at 60. upper 60's in the monterey bay to upper 60's to low 70's inland. tonight there is a a chance of scattered frost and mid-30's to around the low 40s. a sneaker wave tonight through t

struggling in the 40s over parts of the north at santa rosa mid to upper 40s, walnut creek 49. 36 degrees right there at the top. 512 and sanare moan down into the south bay. 40s to low 50s outside for you. san jose 50 looking at 49 at fremont. 53 for sunnyville and along the peninsula at this hour. 51 degrees memo park. 54 at the hills. temperatures will continue to climb as we get into the afternoon, not by a lot, but again we don't have a warming trend underway, a look here at the satellite view, so a few high clouds just spilling over the bay area for today. these brought in by the flow at that ridge of high pressure we've been watching for the last few days, it is now edging inland and it is going to be bring us offshore breeze. you can see here from the arrows that where that flow sending us a few high clouds as well. for today following that chilly start as frost advisories, we're looking at slightly warmer temperatures for the afternoon, light wind and air quality will remain good to moderate. here is a look at the afternoon highs expected for today. 57 degrees in santa rosa. 56 f

the difference. livermore and santa rosa both in the 30's. it's in the 40's in redwood city and in oakland. 51 again in san francisco. tonight, overnight still sub freezing temperatures. santa rosa, fairfield, also in livermore, where this morning it was 29 degrees. nearly 40 overnight. 30's will be common around the peninsula. this will be the last night of subfreezing temperatures. overnight still freezing and otherwise that high surf advisor in place for sunday, including mavericks. first things first. let's pinpoint your extended forecast. cooler, cloudy, wednesday with a slight chance of rain returning right here to the bay area. right now you see this right here? this gives you a good indication where the jet stream is. it's going up around that huge dome of high pressure which is providing us with ample sunshine, not only here locally but along the seashore as well. the rip current risk remains on the high side all the way through the holiday on monday. meanwhile, highs across the state pretty uniform, in the 60's. 50's, yosemite. 65 monterey

but very cold temperatures now. 31 in gilroy, 35 in san jose, 39 in oakland, 30 in santa rosa. we're expecting to see a bright day, lots of sunshine, going to warm us quickly, just as many of us got close to 0 degrees yesterday we're looking at a similar situation today, santa cruz at 71 degrees, our warm spot with the strong offshore flow. san francisco at 69 and same for oakland and san jose at 68. there is one word of caution, there is a high surf advisory this weekend so with the warm temperatures you may be tempted to get out to the beach. definitely avoid prolonged periods of turning your back on the beach. we're expecting swells, chris, up to 20 to 30 feet. the mavericks are taking place tomorrow so if you are going to be spectating, use extreme caution and remember the swells can come 20 to 30 seconds and this means that a lot of that pullback into the ocean you may just think it's over but once the waves come back it's very strong. >> don't turn your back, watch over the kids and the pets. thank you, anthony. >>> to a developing story involving the 49ers, the investigatio

at the sweep on top of mount saint helena. very quiet. 33 santa rosa, all the way up to 42 right now in napa. 59 half moon bay. 37 livermore. just within the half-hour numbers have come up significantly. monterey 59 degrees. a couple 70s down there this afternoon. so 24 hours ago we were a little bit cooler. this morning we are warmer so the atmosphere getting into that mixing right now. bringing some of the warmer air are the upper levels down to the surface. of course, we have the warm air at the coast. that mixing is improving the air quality. not a spare-the-air day. we had chilly temperatures this morning. still cool. looking for the high surf advisory through the afternoon and the mild weather continues through tuscaloosa. right now current wave heights about 7 feet right off the coast here. but in the deeper waters we are looking near 20 feet. could get bigger than that. very dangerous out there. looking at the parking lot at half moon bay, it is a very busy place. with the beautiful day, lots of folks will be enjoying the weather the next couple days and this is why. high pressure co
